The BTEC Level 3 Diploma results, the general vocational equivalent to A levels, were also outstanding, with pass rates of 100% across the board. 379 students successfully completed the BTEC Level 3 Diploma, with 80 students gaining Distinctions, equivalent to two A grades at A level. Continuing this remarkable trend, the BTEC Level 2 Diploma pass rate was 99.0%, with more students than ever progressing to advanced courses at the College in September.

Each year over 700 students go on to study at universities across the country. This year the number included six students with outstanding grades securing places at Oxford or Cambridge. This included Louisa Manning, a former student of Putteridge High School who achieved three A* grades and one A grade. She said, “This is fantastic! I found out this morning that I had got into Oxford to study Anthropology & Archaeology and was over the moon although I haven’t even opened my results yet! I can’t thank the College enough for all the help and support they have given me.”

The award winning Careers Team at the College have been working successfully with those students that didn’t quite get the grades for their first choice of university course and are confident that all students will get a place at university through the clearing process.

The most gifted and talented young people in the area choose to study with us every year and they are brilliantly supported by some of the best teaching and support staff in the country. The results demonstrate yet again just how successful an inclusive and specialist institution such as Luton Sixth Form College can be in enabling young people from the local High Schools to achieve magnificent exam results and realise their true potential. The vast majority of our students will go onto university or employment and make a real difference to our local and national economy. The governors are extremely proud that our students have done so well and would like to thank the staff for their superb work in supporting them so effectively.”
