Luton Sixth Form College Celebrates its Student’s Success

The Student Council from Luton Sixth Form College have recently raised the sum of £500 to buy 1,000 bricks, which is being used to build a care home in Ghana.

Students and staff can now top up their cashless e-purses online using a credit or debit card.

Over a 1000 Luton Sixth Form College students achieve outstanding A level and BTEC Level 3 Diploma results.

Luton Sixth Form College Business and Retail students hosted the 2011 Retail Fashion Show at The Hat Factory.

On Monday 7th March, the College competed in the Regional Final of Debating Matters at Cancer Research UK in Cambridge. The team had won the qualifying round which had taken place here at the College in October.

The new College building was officially opened by Professor Sir Alec Jeffreys on Wednesday 9th March. The College also opened its doors to the public so they could experience the world class facilities that are available to our students.

Three BTEC Performing Arts students took part in Chantry Primary Schools ‘Wow Factor’ – an event which aims to get students excited and enthused about their next topic Space and Beyond.

Luton Sixth form College Student, Tremayne Charles has been selected for the 2011 England Colleges Football Squad.

Huge numbers of prospective students and their parents flocked to the College during the College’s annual round of Open Evenings in January.

Luton Sixth Form College supported the London Luton Airport ‘Pakistan Flood Appeal’, which proved to be an incredible success.

£1,750 funding was given to Luton Sixth Form College by the Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation's London Luton Airport Community Fund.

Students and staff from Luton Sixth Form College took part in a 12 hour bounce-a-thon in aid of Children in Need on Friday 12th November. A range of ‘bouncy’ activities were on offer including trampolining, space hopper challenges and urban rebounding.

There are now more LSFC students taking part in competitive sport than ever before. Regular training sessions now take place on a Monday evening with external coaches, giving college sport a much more professional feel.

Year one student, Tremayne Charles, has been selected to represent the East Region at the National Colleges Mens Football Trials.

The College celebrated the end of education in the old building on Thursday 8th July with an afternoon event for staff, preceded by a photograph which had all established current staff.

The College marked the completion and occupation of the new building by hosting a Ribbon Cutting event. This was hosted on the 2nd of July 2010.
