Sports participation hits an all time high

There are now more LSFC students taking part in competitive sport than ever before. Regular training sessions now take place on a Monday evening with external coaches, giving college sport a much more professional feel.

With the new kit arriving any day now, these students are proud to say that they play for their college. Lunchtime recreation sessions have also seen a huge rise in participation levels this year. The new extended opening hours and the fantastic facilities may be the biggest contributing factors. The sports hall is open daily between 11.40am and 2pm, providing students with an area to socialise and take part in sport and physical activity. There is a mix of recreational and organised activities for students to get involved in, from table tennis to trampolining, basketball to boxing, attracting a wide range of students each day.

The total number of students who have taken part in the sports hall    sessions so far this year is 450. Combining this with the fitness studio members and over 750 students have taken part so far this academic year. This is almost equaling  last year’s total figure of 800 students in just one half term!
