Why study Events Management

Events management is a vast industry that not only requires creativity and flair, but also a range of skills and knowledge of management, business and promotion. Events occur in concert venues, theatres, galleries, arts festivals and centres, dance companies, community arts organisations and many other contexts. Work ranges from planning and marketing to staging events. A range of skills are necessary for the successful running of events, including arts-related law, accountancy, public relations, funding for venues, arranging performances, artists, venues, security, catering, ticket sales, marketing and promotion.

Entry Requirements

In addition to our general entry requirements, you must have:

  • GCSE English grade 3 and GCSE maths grade 3

The Course

The course gives students an insight into the world of project and events management. This course will give learners the opportunity to organise a real event with other learners, providing invaluable knowledge and experiences of events management.

Course Activities

Coursework tasks encourage students to develop their organisational skills. Learners will be introduced to the key concepts of events management, be introduced to marketing and promotion and learn accounting concepts. Learners create and promote products, learn what it takes to become a successful freelancer, they will plan and execute an event to a specific time frame and will learn essential skills of project and risk management and evaluative skills to ensure effective project management.

 

This course combines practical, theoretical, creative and analytical skills and there is an expectation to complete a minimum of 6 hours per week of independent study, in addition to the content taught in the classroom. The independent study time will allow you to develop your skills and knowledge through set tasks. It is likely that you need consider additional time to complete creative aspects of the course.

Career and Progression Opportunities

These units build a strong foundation for work in the creative industries, especially in roles related to marketing, events, branding, and digital content production. Learners completing these units can pursue entry-level roles, higher education, or freelance careers in the creative sector.
