Health and Social Care (AAQ)

Why Study Health and Social Care?

The OCR Level 3 Cambridge Advanced National (AAQ) Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care is designed for students who are interested in understanding how health and social care services support individuals across society. The course combines academic study with applied learning and is typically studied alongside A Levels or other Level 3 qualifications.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grades 9-4, with a minimum of a level 3 in GCSE Maths and GCSE English Language

The Course

Equivalent in size to one A Level, the qualification introduces students to key concepts in health and social care, including human biology, mental health, public health and person-centred care. Students develop knowledge of how professionals work within the sector and how services support individuals with a wide range of needs.

Course Activities

The course focuses on applying theory to real-life scenarios, helping students develop practical skills such as communication, research, problem-solving and teamwork. Assessment includes a mixture of externally assessed exams and internally assessed coursework (non-examined assessment) completed throughout the course.
